There is a lot of good advice around on succeeding and achieving your goals but sometimes it can feel overwhelming so where do you start?
Over the years I have succeeded and not succeeded with my goals and the key to this is knowing what works for you. So I have put down a few tips that have worked for me over the years:-
- Get a clear picture and understanding of what you will gain from achieving your goal. How will your goal benefit you? How will it affect you as a person?
- Does your goal fit well with your core values? Our core values guide and motivate us, they underpin how we behave and live our life. They are the things that we must have in our lives to ensure we lead fulfilling lives. Do need excitement and adventure? Do you want to be surrounded by beauty and nature? Is it important to feel secure? Do you live your life with honesty and integrity? If your goal is incongruent with your core values you are less likely to want to succeed.
- Write your goals down (or do a vision board) and put them where you see them on a daily basis. Tell others about your goal. This will enhance your motivation and become embedded in your subconscious thus bringing about opportunities that lead towards your achievements.
- Take action! If your goal is really important to you that it is important enough to get going on it. Take the first step and keep going. Remind yourself of what you will be gaining from the achievement. Good luck with them!
